Garrett J. Bradley, D-Hingham, and Sen. Robert L. Hedlund, R-Weymouth, today announced that the Hull Lifesaving Museum will receive a $5,000 grant from MassHumanities. The money will be used to create a web site that is based upon the Museum’s Boston Harbor Shipwreck Chart and companion book, Shipwrecks and Nautical Lore of Boston Harbor, including primary source documents and images that describe each wreck. Rep. Bradley said, “I am pleased that the state has provided financial support for the Hull Lifesaving Museum, which documents a vital chapter of the town’s history. This modest grant will support the continuing mission of the Hull Lifesaving Museum to teach visitors about the history of the community and the important work of our local public safety personnel.” Sen. Hedlund said, “The Hull Lifesaving Museum is an important historical and cultural center, not just for Hull, but for the surrounding region. I wish to thank MassHumanities for recognizing the importance of the Museum and for helping support its remarkable programs.” According to David Tebaldi, Executive Director, funding for these grants is a joint effort between MassHumanities and the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and projects such as the Museum web site enhance civic life across the Commonwealth. Established in 1974 as the state-based affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), Mass Humanities is a programming and grant-making organization that receives support from the NEH and the Massachusetts Cultural Council as well as private sources.###
