Bradley Department of Environmental Protection Awards $945,706 in Sustainability Grants Representative Bradley and Senator Hedlund Announce Cohasset to Receive Funding. Boston – The town of Cohasset was among the 161 towns awarded a share of the Department of Environmental Protection’s funding for fiscal year 2008 to be used towards climate change, sustainability, and pollution prevention. The funding will support innovative efforts to save energy, throw away less, recycle and compost more, eliminate hazardous materials from school facilities and grounds, and reduce people’s exposure to air pollution from excessive idling of bus, car, and truck engines. Cohasset was awarded $17,050 to assist with its “Daylighting and Gasoline Efficiency Project,” which stands to be an example both within and outside the community as to the importance of being more environmentally aware. Representative Bradley said, “I am glad to see that The DEP has recognized the work that Cohasset has put in to make their town greener and more sustainable. These funds will be instrumental in continuing those efforts.” "There are few long-term issues bigger and more important than becoming better stewards of the environment," Sen. Robert Hedlund said. "We all have a role to play, whether as consumers, heads of households, or local leaders. I am pleased that the state has recognized the efforts being undertaken by Cohasset." ###
